  1. Thats horrible. Its amazing to me how you pay for your medical insurance, and then they always seem to find ways to get the money back from you no matter the cost. Something really needs to be done for the people. Everything is being done for the major corporations, they seem to win in almost every case through loop holes and a faulty system. America has lost sight of the people, and now we are suffering for it.

  2. It is sad, true enough. Unfortunate–absolutely. Heart wrenching-no question!

But what is key here and why Wal-Mart kept winning was not corporate greed or malfeasance. The CNN story even said so–there was a clause in the agreement that said they could recoup the amount if there was a settlement and here was a settlement with the insurance carrier. So in reality, she agreed to the conditions laid out in the health plan packet, and is now paying back the money that was extended. This is yet another case of someone not reading what they agreed to and a company enforcing that agreement. She could have purchased private insurance if she didn’t like the condition in the contract, but she instead went the cheaper route and thought “that would never happen to me anyway.” It is called personal responsibility.

She is not entitled to the money in question-: Wal-Mart is. Now, should other people chip in and help our fellow human being? Sure we should–collections should be taken up for her, in fact based on the Wal-Mart statement there may be a case where they would contribute (although I doubt they would or this story would never have happened). But blaming Wal-Mart in this case is wrong.

  3. Wal-Mart made Countdown with Keith Olbermann’s World’s Worst persons. At first they got the Gold, but Keith has said until they rescind their decision, Keith is going to continue to give them an award in World’s Worse. I think he should do a Special Comment about Wal-Mart other corporate abuses.

  4. Baraktorvan, have you ever worked for Wal-Mart?
    If so, at what level?

We are talking about a two-faced company who preaches “family values” & “respect for the in indevidual” with one face, then punishes people for getting injured or taking care of thier family with the other.

This is not the same Wal-Mart Sam Walton created.
I sometimes wonder what Mr. Sam would think about what his successors have done to his company.

  5. guess what I saw on aol? check this shit out..they must have had a change of heart. (yea, right)
